Over 300 people (and the Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot) made the trek for an afternoon of peace, music and square dancing. Just like Woodstock before them, the band felt the atmosphere come alive when they looked across the muddy fields to see their fans cheering them on. A nasty lightening storm forced them to cut the concert short but their fans prevailed and the band played late into the night.
As a living homage to the greatest TV band ever, Midlife Crisis has adopted a Chris Partridge approach to their guitar player. As Wikipedia defines it, “when the actor playing a character is replaced with another actor, the role has been Chris Partridged.”
To date we’ve seen the guitarist played by Brian, Paul and now the latest member to come on board is Randy Bauer.
Even within one of the most conservative companies in the world there are rebels and this one was just waiting for a cause.
Randy Bauer, a senior portfolio manager who manages mutual funds worth millions of dollars for Federated Investors is the latest member to join the revolving door of Midlife Crisis guitar players.
“I’ve been coming to their gigs and practices for years and calculated it would be another 192.7 days before they went through their options and asked me to join. I’m thrilled and a little nervous that they are going to ask me to grow my hair long and wear leather pants.”
If you’ve traveled anywhere recently where there is live music, you’ve probably come across Brian Long performing onstage with the featured act.
He hit the stage at the House of Blues in Chicago and was asked to perform “Roadhouse Blues” with Joe Bachman and The Crew to a sold-out crowd at Sloppy Joes in Key West.
Most recently, Joe Grushecky and The House Rockers invited him up to join the band for a song (and had him gently escorted off the stage when he wouldn’t leave).

Apparently being in one band isn’t enough for some of Midlife Crisis.
Both Nick and Calvin are long-time musicians who have taken their love of jazz and formed another band, “Southern Comfort”. The band plays regularly at Blue Nightclub and so far it hasn’t interfered with their real band so we’re excited for them. They’ve even let Brian and his famous harmonica join them onstage a couple of times.
Speaking of Brian, he is also a member of BluesBox Seven, an all-harmonica band, and is in the lead for most over-exposed member of the band.
